Prepare Your Campaign

The most successful caucus candidates start early. Here's what to do before caucus night.

1

Announce Your Candidacy

Let your neighbors know you're running. The more visibility you have before the night, the better.

2

Prepare a 2-Minute Speech

At the caucus, each candidate delivers a brief speech. Cover three things: who you are, why you're running, and your commitment to the position and the party. Practice it aloud — two minutes goes fast.

3

Know Your Precinct

Look up your precinct on the Precinct Locator. Know who your current Chair is, whether there's a Facebook group, and what your neighbors care about. Local knowledge makes a compelling candidate.

Caucus Night Tips

Arrive by 6:30 PM. The meet-and-greet hour before the formal meeting is your best opportunity for face time with neighbors. Don't miss it.

Be ready for Q&A. After speeches, attendees may ask questions. Anticipate: "Why are you the right person?" and "What will you do differently?"

Be genuine. Neighbors vote for people they trust. Authenticity matters more than a polished pitch in a neighborhood caucus setting.

Know the rules. Review the Caucus Rules page so you understand the process and aren't caught off guard.
